Nestlé reduces its activities in Russia: Kitkat and Nesquik are removed
Nestlé has been the center of criticisms for several days and is reducing its exposure in Russia, removing brands such as Kitkat and Nesquik from its shelves. The multinational company is now selling exclusively baby food and health and nutritional supplements
«We do not expect to make any profits from these activities and therefore we do not expect to pay taxes on profits,» a group spokeswoman told AWP news agency today. «We are looking for solutions concerning our staff and production units in Russia: we will continue to pay salaries,» she added. Nestlé has around 7,000 employees on site. The suspension of production and sales of products in Russia affects «the vast majority of items, including animal feed, coffee and confectionery».
As is well known, the Vevey-based giant has come under criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who repeatedly called for the company to leave Russia. This led online to appeals calling for a boycott too. Yesterday, the news also circulated that the hacker group Anonymous allegedly hacked into the company's computer systems, but the company denied this.
